Treasure Each Voice

Under the auspices of the PEACE III Donegal Peace & Reconciliation Partnership, The Fiach
Arts Circle have assembled a 600-page anthology of, Irish, English, and Ulster-Scots
literature from the Stranorlar Area since the Plantation. The exhibition consists of 30 paintings by the Fiach Arts Circle and the Castle Artists, Castlederg who have selected themes, scenes, and motifs from this body of literature and used them to produce approx 30 paintings inspired by texts from the book.

The book will then be distributed free to libraries, and public and other bodies.

The rationale behind our project is, firstly, that the Stranorlar Area is the only part of Ireland where all three languages are spoken
as first languages on a daily basis. Secondly,
we believe the Stranorlar Area can serve as a
role model for a future pluralist Ireland, because despite the Northern problems, community relations have been excellent here for the past century.

The launch of Treasure Each Voice - 400 years of English, Irish and Ulster-Scots and
associated art exhibition will take place at the Balor
Theatre, Ballybofey, Co Donegal, on
Saturday 21st August, 2010 at 8pm

It is planned to host a revolving art exhibition for two weeks every year. Conor Malone,
Manager of the Balor Theatre has agreed to host the annual
show. When the exhibition is
firmly established in this locality it would
then be taken throughout the length and breath of
Ireland and would foster
more enlightened relationships between Protestant, Catholic and Presbyterian citizens.
